The Little Portugal Laneway Suite is proposed on a narrow property currently home to an historic street-facing rowhouse. Here, the homeowners sought to construct a modern structure that would provide long-term living space capable of accommodating an expanding family in future.
This two-storey laneway suite features a comfortable open living area at the ground floor and two large bedrooms above. A fully excavated, unfinished basement is proposed to become valuable additional space in future. The ground level will incorporate a commissioned mural by a local artist that will discourage graffiti and become a unique art-piece tied to the community. Collaborating closely with the contractor and homeowners throughout the design process, our team developed a response that would align to a modest budget while providing all the comforts of home.
