BLOORCOURT LANEWAY SUITE

This laneway suite in Bloorcourt Village is a second-storey and partial ground floor addition to an existing garage structure. Working with a generously sized site, our team devised a plan that would leverage the existing structure to it’s greatest potential while providing a well-sized rental unit sized from the inside-out in order to maintain as much of the rear yard space as possible. The ground floor garage space is maintained entirely, with a new entry vestibule, stair and small clay studio inserted at grade. The upper level houses an efficient 1-bedroom plus den unit that maximizes privacy to the rear yard while maintaining daylight throughout the space.  The design relies on simplified envelope and two-toned cladding scheme to compliment the existing garage and principal residence.

This laneway suite demonstrates how an existing structure can be seamlessly incorporated into a stunning two storey unit while ensuring a cost effective, yet complimentary aesthetic to the lot and neighbourhood at large.
